Dow Stock Certificates

What are Stock Certificates?

A stock certificate is a physical piece of paper that represents a shareholder’s ownership interest in a company. They include information such as the number of shares owned, an identification number, usually a corporate seal, signatures and date of printing. Each company’s stock certificate is unique, displaying an intricate design and illustration.  Seals show year and state of incorporation. Today, records of ownership are almost always kept in electronic form.
